Why would the Canadian government absorb asylum seekers from a fellow OECD country that itself accepts none?
For over a decade, asylum seekers from African conflict zones have found a fragile haven in Israel, despite the Israeli government’s refusal to review their asylum applications. Israel Story, Israel’s version of This American Life and the country’s leading podcast, is going on tour in North America! The group lands in Toronto April 16 to debut “Mixtape: The Stories Behind Israel’s Ultimate Playlist.”
The event will take audiences on a musical tour of the past seven decades, to unpack the drama, history and social tensions lurking beneath the most iconic, and most obscure, tunes to play over Israeli airwaves.
Brought to you by New Israel Fund of Canada and the Miles Nadal JCC.
So mark your calendars for April 16, 7:30 p.m. at Al Greene Theatre.
